Ferrari unveils a new model of super-car, claiming it has the firms most powerful engine ever

Ferrari has introduced a brand new open-top supercar it describes as “likely the nearest and purest driving experience to components 1” – and has already pre-sold the whole production run, despite a probable £1m-plus price tag.

The luxurious sports car maker took the wraps off the Ferrari Monza SP1 and SP2 on the firm’s famous Maranello manufacturing unit in Italy on Tuesday.

Ferrari stated in a press release that the newest models are first in a limited series called “Icona”. The name has been selected to reference the firms famous racing automobiles of the 1950’s. The SP1 has handiest one seat at the same time as the SP2 lets in for one passenger.

Claimed to provide “the satisfactory weight-to-power ratio of any barchetta,” the new road version characteristic complete carbon fiber body shells, compact upward-commencing doors, and a the front-hinged one-piece carbon fiber hood that lifts up to reveal a V12 engine. Needless to say, drivers and passengers will need a very good set of goggles at those speeds. That said, the vehicles do have a “digital Wind protect” in the form of a fairing positioned ahead of the instrument panel and steerage wheel. This deviates a number of the incoming air flow away from the cockpit, preserving the occupants from getting absolutely wind-blasted. Each cars are 4,657 mm lengthy, 1,996 mm wide and 1,155 mm high, with the SP1 weighing 1,500 kg (3,307 lb) and the SP2 coming in at 1,520 kg (three,351 lb). Those weight figures are for motors with non-compulsory lightweight components.

Pricing of the new Ferrari Monza SP1 and SP2 will be revealed at the Paris Motor Show next month. Seven figures? Count on it.
