Pirates of the Caribbean-themed version of Samsung’s Galaxy S8 is setting sail in China
Samsung has recently released a limited-edition ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’-themed Samsung Galaxy S8 in China and it is already available via JD.com, which is one of the largest retailers in China. Spec-wise, the smartphone is not any different than the standard Samsung Galaxy S8, save for a fancy box, a case, and some wallpaper.
The Limited edition smartphone is a marketing tie-in for Disney’s latest film, ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’ and it ships in a skull-emblazoned treasure chest. Inside the box there’s also a collectible ring. All the limited-edition content is housed in a smart clip-on case. When case is attached to the Samsung Galaxy S8, the UI will become Pirates-themed, complete with a new background and application icons.
Interestingly enough, though, this limited edition smartphone itself doesn’t have any text, images or anything of the sort on it regarding Pirates of the Caribbean, it looks just like the standard Galaxy S8 model on the outside, and this is the Dark Black model we are talking about here, that is the only color option for this special edition handset.
The phone, which is currently on sale at JD.com, only comes in the 4 gigabyte of RAM and 64 gigabyte of storage version, and retails for $880. It also comes out with a special phone ring holder. There are no signs of a US release, so if you want to get your hands on one you will have to set sail to China.
