Here’s Why The Age Of Gaming PCs Will Never Die

It’s no secret that we live in a digital age. One where it will soon be possible to play computer games without needing a PC! The biggest thing to hit the tech world since the Internet is cloud computing. Long used by businesses, it’s something that consumers can take advantage of as well.

There will soon come a time where you can go online and play games without needing dedicated hardware. In fact, all you will need is an Internet-connected device. So, does that mean the death knell is sounding for the humble old gaming PC? Despite staring into the face of adversity, the answer is no – believe it or not! Here’s why:

Not everyone wants to go online

There is a high demand for offline gaming. Yes, we live in an age where multiplayer gaming over the Internet is the norm. But, many people prefer to play offline games. Especially if they live in areas where Internet access is reminiscent of the days of 56k modems!

Being the cynical person that I am, I don’t think Internet access will be universal. We are some years away from that happening. It’s no secret that many gamers live in rural areas. And that usually means slow or no Internet access.

Gaming PCs can also get used for work

So you’ve got a PC that has an AMD CrossFire setup and an Intel Core i7 CPU. It’s more than capable of running the latest games on it. But, it’s still a PC, and that means it can still be used for work!

Most people with gaming PCs use their devices to write letters or do some other work on them. Especially if they happen to work from home.

Gaming PCs look amazing

The disadvantage of cloud gaming is that you literally have nothing to show for it! You don’t have any cool hardware sitting in your living room, bedroom or wherever.

I don’t know about you, but I’m a self-confessed gadget geek. I love having all kinds of tech in my home! Some people think that gaming PCs look boring – but they aren’t! Don’t believe me? Check out some of the Falcon Northwest products. Or Dell’s AlienWare machines. In fact, I could go on listing a plethora of examples!

You can’t customize a games console

Aside from cloud gaming, the other alternative these days is the games console. The big difference between them and PCs is customization. You can upgrade your PC as much as you want. You can’t really do anything to a console!

In fact, at best, the only thing possible with a games console is giving the case a nice paint job. Other than that, you’ve got to live with the proprietary hardware.

Modern gaming PCs are energy-efficient

Last, but not least, the latest PC hardware gets designed with one thing in mind: efficiency. No-one wants to pay a fortune for their electricity costs when they are gaming!

These days, things like power supplies and graphics cards use little power. Even during peak usage.
